As we have already mentioned, a general strike was called in Italy for the 29th of November (https://www.iclcit.org/general-strike-on-the-29th-of-november/).
Our comrades from USI joined the call and the rally in Milan, among many other events held across the country. Not only did they call for a repeal of bill 1660 but they also protested cutbacks in public health services and education, at a time when more and more money is being diverted to the army and police. Altogether, it seems that someone in the far-right government is betting on repression!
The fact is that there are many reasons to protest, not only against the central government, but also against local authorities. These are proceeding swiftly with their gentrification plans for central Milan, which is quickly expelling its working-class remaining inhabitants and turning into a luxury brand city.
USI’s block consisted of many health care workers, workers from nearby factories and companies and many comrades from FAI (the Italian Anarchist Federation) and other libertarians.
