FOB unanimously agree to ICL membership!

Our comrades and friends from FOB in Brazil have voted in favour of formal ICL membership.

What a best way to start a new year than welcoming a new member to our expanding family of revolutionaries and working-class activists! As such, we are happy and proud to learn that the latest national congress of FOB (Federação das Organizações Sindicalistas Revolucionárias do Brasil, Federation of Syndicalist Revolutionary Organisations of Brazil) have unanimously voted in favour of requesting formal membership to our international. Full details can be found here (in Portuguese) https://lutafob.org/iii-enopes-decide-por-filiacao-a-cit/

ICL was represented at the congress by two Argentinian comrades from FORA, who travelled to Brazil as our delegates and delivered a message from the international’s secretary from USI, in Italy. International solidarity and coordination at its best!

FOB brings together organisations from multiple Brazilian estates and regions, like Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Bahia, Ceara or Parana, among many others, and workers from different sectors, from education to peasants and the self-employed. It is worth noting that Brazil is a huge country with enormous communication hurdles, and we want to congratulate and thank our comrades for overcoming these difficulties to successfully organise workers in this region.

Equally, we want to thank them for their continuous input in ICL’s America Working Group, together with our other sections in the continent. This is an integral part of our project to foster worldwide self-organisation.

According to our statutes, their request will be put to a vote through a referendum, to make sure that bottom-up democracy is upheld and that all local unions and individual members in the sections can have a say.

In the meantime, we are happy to welcome our comrades and friends to ICL. No doubt, another step in the self-organisation of the working class on a global level. Welcome comrades!
